Once at the school, we looked at the photos on the wall of the kindergarten teachers. Addie picked out the one she hopes she gets, which was Mrs. Larson "with the yellow hair." Yellow hair must be the mark of a good teacher. Then we walked home the long way since the weather was nice (well, nice for this time of year anyway).
As soon as we got home, Addie asked me to play Legos with her. She built a unicorn out of pink blocks and named her Jewel. Then she set up the scenario: she and her family have to escape from bad guys that make hot lava that only kills unicorns, not people. The Lego guys have to save them and build them a house right next door to their own house so they can protect them from the bad guys. The daddy unicorn has stingers and the mommy unicorn has medicine. The baby unicorn can't fly very well yet. Once she filled me in on the logistics, we were set to play. We played only for about twenty minutes before she got a call to go play at Jane's house. Sheesh, she's growing up too fast. For my sake, I hope there are many more afternoons ahead to save Jewel and her family from hot lava.
