One Big Dollop O' Photos

Hello everyone! It's time for another huge photo update! These are all pictures from the last couple of weeks - we've been keeping busy!

We played a game of frisbee golf one glorious Friday afternoon with good ol' Zach. I don't think anyone kept score, which is good because I'm pretty sure I lost. Addie didn't play of course, but she was at least dressed the part. You can tell I'm a mom now because most of our photos are of Addie, and I'm hardly in any because I'm the one taking all the pictures.

Jason's family came up for Addie's blessing. Addie got a lot of attention, as you can see from the above photo. (Left to right: Nate, Caitie, Trisha and Cami.)

We all went to Oktoberfest at Snowbird the Saturday before and had so much fun! (Some people were nearby chuckling when I took the above photo and I think J was a little embarrassed about it because he told me to hurry it up. Don't worry, I didn't hurry it up and took at least three more photos.) We rode the Alpine slide (I think everyone got hit in the face with a cricket at least once going down the slide, even Cami. It's a pretty fun slide and I hope to have one just like it in my backyard someday.)...

...the mechanical bull (I rode it too, by the way, and I think I rocked it's world. Unfortunately we have no photographic proof. The order of riders from top to bottom: Dan, Colton, Pat, Jason and Jason again.)...

...and the tram. This was taken at the top of the tram ride-it was kind of chilly up there, which felt like a nice break from the usual heat this time of year. I think you'd have to be a little on the insane side to ski down the slope there. It's so steep you would be falling more than skiing... you could save the money on ski rentals and just jump. Same experience.

Here's our first family photo (other than the one taken in the hospital...and the one just above this one...okay, this is the first official-looking one). This is after she was blessed, thus the new little twinkle in her eye. She was actually awake during the blessing, but she was perfectly quiet and just looking around. We must be good parents to have such a well-behaved baby.

Jason was kind of skeptical about having a baby pretty much right up until we had one. As you can see here, he kinda likes her...loves her even. And she's got his hair. How could you not love her?! She's got such pinchable cheeks that jiggle going over bumps in the stroller! Actually, they jiggle even when she's not going over bumps.

Addie just recently learned to smile. Her first smile was on a Sunday during sacrament meeting. I picked her up while she was sleeping and she opened her eyes and flashed us a big smile, like she was pleased to see us...or maybe she was just feeling the spirit. Anyway, she's been smiling ever since! It's hard to snap a picture of her smile because extreme wiggling usually accompanies the smiles.

We sometimes find her hanging her binky out of her mouth like she's some sort of James Dean. You might think this means she's done with it, but she slurps it right back into her mouth when the urge for a good suckin' comes on.

We all went to the State Fair last week (they had $2 admission day, which is the kind of deal we're always on the lookout for) and dear Jalackie came with us. We watched the rodeo (Addie really did watch the rodeo...and most of it, too). I would say the highlight of the rodeo was when a bull actually fell over during the bull riding event. And the Mutton Bustin', of course.

Addie, Jackie and I checked out the animals. Addie liked the goats, and I think they liked her, too. She does not like pigs, however, and I think its because they're noisy and stinky. Pigs can get goose bumps, by the way.

We also looked at the rabbits. This is Jackie (red hair). I'm sorry for the people who don't know her because she's pretty funny. I'm glad she put down her school books to come to the fair with me! By the way, there are way more varieties of rabbit than you would dare dream of and most of them scare me. They are not all cute and fluffy like the Velveteen Rabbit would have you believe.

I think she looks like a crew member on The Deadliest Catch in this photo. She was awake the entire time at the fair, just taking it all in. It was quite the night of new things for her!

And to finish the week, Addie got her 2 month shots. Yep, she's two months old. She cried, of course, but only for a few minutes and then she fell asleep. I didn't have the heart to put her back in her car seat, so I carried her home (the doctor's office is just down the street so we take the stroller and walk there...super convenient! There's an InstaCare and a KidsCare there, too). She slept for three hours and woke up her normal happy self. I think I was more sad about the shots than she was. She did get some awesome Snoopy band-aids, though.

Life is good.
