My Jelly Belly

The belly photo was taken a few weeks ago, and I think I've gotten a little bigger since then, but you get the idea. The doctor says I'll probably gain another ten pounds in the next two months (I've gained twenty so far), so that's something to look forward to. I already get out of breath just brushing my teeth! I don't look too big to other people, but I feel big -like when I can't see my feet in the shower, and my belly button is so popped out it looks like a nose. I really can't complain though because I feel pretty good most of the time.

Japan, Jazz, and Ham

Today is actually Sunday, April 27th. Just ignore the date above this post. Yesterday (Saturday) we went to a Japanese festival down town and had fun walking around. We watched some karate, listened to some Buddhist Temple drummers (my favorite) and ate a teriyaki chicken sandwich and some meatballs. I'm not sure that either of those is really Japanese, but it was good. Jason's dad and brother, Patrick, came up for the Jazz game and we went with. It was a good game to have tickets to, and it was pretty exciting to be there. When we were going into the Energy Solutions Arena a security guard stopped me and told me I had to leave the ham in the car...ha ha! My belly does look like I'm just hiding a ham under my shirt. Anyway, we had a good time yesterday and that's all I wanted to say.

Dreams and Dream Deals

So last night I had a dream that I went into labor. We didn't have a bag packed for the hospital, so I had to have the baby in our living room. How weird is that? I'm pretty sure our hospital will let me in to deliver my baby without a bag, but maybe I should double check. Anyway, I was relieved to wake up this morning and find that I still have a wiggly creature in my belly and plenty of time to pack a bag.

If you love horchata, you will love Tuesdays at the Mexican restaurant Alvaros. All day every Tuesday they have free unlimited horchata! You have to buy something to get this delightful liquid for free, but you can buy a churro for only 99 cents. Jason and I downed horchata yesterday like it was air. Delicious cinnamon and rice air. Mmm...

Rashes, Jelly Beans, and Legless Lizards

For my fellow preggies that have a belly rash: I had a terrible belly rash that wouldn't go away no matter what I put on it or didn't put on it. My mom gave me a bottle of emu oil (called Emule) and it made my rash go away like a frightened jack rabbit. It's also good for muscle aches, bug bites, sunburns, injured joints, and scars. It is a magic 100% emu oil that can take care of all your problems. I have no idea where you can buy this sweet majesty oil, but its worth the hunting time to get some. By hunting I mean going to stores, not shooting your own emu.

Today happens to be National Jelly Bean Day. I'm not sure how to celebrate this day other than eating some jelly beans. I only wish I had some. I think this day needs more publicity and dancing jelly beans on every street corner handing out bags of free jelly beans. Anyway, happy Jelly Bean Day! Oh, and happy Earth Day, too!

One more thing: I (not Jason because he was working, unfortunately) went to the zoo on Saturday with my brother and his lady friend. I haven't been to zoo in awhile, so it was a treat, as the zoo usually is. Here are the highlights of the day: an albino crocodile (the Ghost of the Bayou), a howling wolf, an orangutan doing a ninja roll, a kid with really long snot strings coming out of both nostrils, and a lizard with no arms or legs. I know you're thinking that I really saw a snake and I'm just confused, but the sign said it was a lizard. I guess the structure of the eyelids or something makes it a lizard, not a snake. It was a really fun day, and it ended with a Cafe Rio burrito.

Lovin' Logan

I am sorry I haven't posted any pictures-our computer is dumb won't download photos unless its off of a CD, so I have to use another computer to burn them onto a CD before I can put them on this computer. Maybe on Sunday I'll post some photos of our most recent adventures. We were in Logan last weekend to spend time with friends and go to a concert. Ryan Thompson, Mark's brother and fellow Missing Link member, plays in a band called American Addict. They opened for MXPX in Logan last Saturday night, so we went to watch and rock out. Unfortunately, they started playing before most people had even gotten in the doors yet, so we missed most of their performance. Fortunately, they played an after show at a local gymnastics gym-complete with bouncy floors, trampolines, uneven bars, etc. It was a pretty cool place to have a show because you could really get crazy and jump around, and they are a super-talented band. We had a great time in Logan and we got to hang out with the likes of Zach Carr, Scott Bird, Crystal and Tork, and some new faces, too. Matt and Abbey were out of town, which was sad.

Prospectin'

So, last night at 9:30 we decided to go panning for gold. We -Jason, Mark T., Jackie Black, Henry (her boyfriend) and myself- headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to find a good prospectin' creek spot. We were equipped with a gold panning pan, three window screens, a small camp shovel, two headlamps, three flashlights, four water bottles, six granola bars, an axe, a first aid kit, and a pair of work gloves. We sat by the creek in the dark (for those that may decide to do this, we recommend going during the day...although it makes you feel cooler to wear headlamps) for an hour or so and found: a bullet, a UTA token, and some glass. No gold. And it turns out that Mark brought the token from home and planted it in the pan along with a shovel load of mud. It was a "dirty" trick, ha ha ha. We then discovered a small abandoned fire and proceeded to re-kindle it. Then we tried melting various metals, including the UTA token, to see what would happen. If you put a penny in the fire, the zinc inside melts while the copper outside looks the same as a regular penny-until you poke it with a stick and it oozes out the molten zinc. It was a lot of fun, even if we came home without gold jingling in our pockets.
